Munich Startup Award 2022 goes to Pixel Robotics
AI-navigated autonomous pallet transport robot of the future
Munich, 28.09.2022 — Intelligent robots for logistics – navigated by cameras and AI. With this revolutionary idea, Pixel Robotics GmbH, wins this year’s Munich Startup Award. In the pitch competition of the Bits & Pretzels start-up festival, Pixel Robotics was recognized as the most successful Munich startup, beating numerous other startups from the state capital.
Award ceremony at the Oktoberfest:
The award, along with the 5,000 euro prize, was presented by Economic Officer of the City of Munich and a Wiesn boss, Clemens Baumgärtner.
Clemens Baumgärtner, Head of Department of Labor and Economic Development: “As one of the leading start-up hotspots, Munich wants to honor the best of the best. Munich entrepreneurs show again and again which innovative and smart solutions are possible for the current challenges. The ‘Munich Startup Award’ recognizes the work of Pixel Robotics GmbH, which has taken on these challenges and achieved outstanding results in the process.”
Vision-AI Robotics:
Pixel Robotics builds intelligent, perception-driven robots tailored for intralogistics. A digital twin of the area of application is created with the help of an AI vision infrastructure. With the help of this real-time twin, the robots of the Munich start-up can work together with their human colleagues: autonomously, safely, and with unmatched flexibility and adaptability.
High benefit for customers:
Pixel Robotics automates the horizontal transportation of pallets in facilities. More than 500 million Euro pallets are currently used in logistics and industry. Only in about 2% of cases are pallets moved more than 50 cm vertically, i.e. raised or lowered. The bulk of moves are horizontal movements, which are not yet automated today. Pixel Robotics solution makes it possible to automate the majority of all horizontal pallet movements and thus helps customers to save more than 40% on internal transport costs – in addition, energy consumption is reduced!
Further growth planned:
The company founded by Johannes and Valentin Plapp is up to much more. Valentin Plapp, CEO of Pixel Robotics is certain: “In the last 2 years we have learned that having a clear vision is the key to success – and we indeed have one”.
Despite the difficult economic situation, Pixel Robotics plans to at least double the number of robots manufactured annually in the Munich industrial complex.
