AI-navigated autonomous pallet transport robots at LogiMAT 2023

Munich, 23.03.2023 — Pixel Robotics GmbH, the pioneer of intelligent transporters in logistics will be showcasing its groundbreaking robots that are entirely navigated by artificial intelligence at LogiMAT in Stuttgart from April 25 to April 27, 2023.

Pixel Robotics specializes in building intelligent robots that are tailored for intralogistics and can recognize their environment using Artificial Intelligence. A Digital Twin of the environment is created thanks to the unique AI perception infrastructure. Using this real-time twin, the robots from Pixel Robotics can seamlessly work alongside human colleagues – autonomous, safe, and with an unmatched flexibility and adaptability.

Thanks to their modular and robust design, these robots are not only well-suited to harsh logistics environments, but are also highly cost-effective, with a typical return on investment of less than 1.5 years.

Among the Pixel PTs’ unique abilities are:

  • Picking up pallets from any position: There are no restrictions such as pallets have to be in a certain fixed position or that only certain small variations are permitted.
  • Picking up foil-wrapped pallets: The AI does not recognize foil as an obstacle, but as foil – based on this distinction, the robot can cut through the foil while approaching the pallet and does not have to stop. Conventional AMRs work with laser sensors, which do not allow to distinguish between different types of obstacles.
  • Put-down according to rules: Like a forklift driver, the Pixel PT does not simply place a pallet in a fixed place. However, it considers how the pallets are aligned in the area and maintains defined distances to pallets that have already been placed.
  • Obstacle avoidance: Intelligent perception of the environment allows the Pixel PT to recognize whether an obstacle is a person, a pallet, or another industrial truck and as well if the obstacle is moving or standing still. Depending on the object and the state of movement, obstacles are handled differently. On a narrow route, for instance, a parked forklift would be bypassed, whereas a forthcoming forklift would be given the right of way.
